Etna gravitas and elegance from an indisputable maestro, the house of Benanti.
+ GRAPES: Blend of ~ 85% Nerello Mascalese + ~15% Nerello Cappuccio. Organic. Grown in rich volcanic soils on the steep slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily.
+ PROFILE: Very dry, medium body, lithe acidity. Structured and serious, with a red berry and bramble top note, underscored by mineral and saline qualities and a quite long finish. Finesse in a glass!
+ FUNDAMENTALS: The two varietals are vinified separately, then blended. Fermentation is entirely in stainless tank using only wild yeast. The Nerello Mascalese sees 20% second-passage elevation in used French oak barrique.
