A sessionable blend that's pretty much everything you could want in a chillable red. This is a special side project for Selection Massale by Shaunt Oungoulian of Les Lunes Wines.
+ GRAPES: Practicing organic. 35% Grenache + 25% Nero d’Avola + 20% Merlot + 15% Counoise + 5% Syrah from multiple parcels around Redwood Valley in Sonoma, CA.
+ PROFILE: Super delightful. Easy-going, dry-juicy, medium body. Think raspberry Jolly Rancher, wild berries, cherry leaf, and just enough raspberry seed tannin to give things structure. Bright acidity on the tail keeps things fresh. Serve with a medium chill.
+ FUNDAMENTALS: Wild yeast. Stainless tank for winemaking, zero oak.
+ WINEMAKERS: They lease their own vineyards, work their own vines and built their own cellar. Shaunt believes in proper pruning, well-timed treatments and thoughtful weed management. Preservation of the indigenous microbes on the grapes and in the soils is very important; it leads to healthier and more complex wines that don’t need adjusting or stabilizing in the cellar.
