California Stars is a side project from the Les Lunes folks [and, we assume, a nod to Wilco!].
+ GRAPES: Organic. Blend of 88% Chardonnay + 12% Muscadet dry-farmed in majestic Redwood Valley, California.
+ PROFILE: Dry. Fresh-styled orange, lightly aromatic. Juicy, dried apricot, papaya, tangerine skin. Saline finish with light tannins. A great crossover if you're a fan of Meinklang Weisser Mulatchak. N.B. - Enjoy with just a slight chill so those lovely secondary flavors really shine.
+ FUNDAMENTALS: Half the Chardonnay was direct-pressed as a white wine, while the other half was destemmed and macerated with 12 days of skin-contact. The Muscadet sees one week of skin-contact. Blended just prior to bottling, with the 20ppm s02 for stability.
