Contra Soarda, 'Gaggion' Marzemino Nero 2020

Availability: In stock

MARVELOUS MARZEMINO

Continuing our love for uncommon grapes, we're mad for Marzemino! Worthy of exploration for those that appreciate the beauty of Barbera, or the rustic nature of Teroldego.

+ GRAPE: Organic. 100% Marzemino Nero, grown on volcanic soil in the Veneto region of Italy.

+ PROFILE: Juicy, but dry. On the nose: purple flowers + Alpine forest. Purple fruit, white and black pepper, bing cherry, mountain herbs, and anise. Medium body, medium acidity, rustic tannins and lovely texture. 10 mins in the fridge for 'cellar temperature' recommended.

+ FUNDAMENTALS: Wild yeast. Spends one year in stainless steel tanks, followed by an additional year in large, neutral oak barrels. Rests in bottle for one year before release.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Mirco and Gloria Gottardi established Contra’ Soarda in 2002 with the desire to create a deeper tie to their native land. 'Contra’ Soarda', which means “hamlet on the slope", grows vines and olive trees with utmost respect for the environment. The vineyards lie just outside of the picturesque town of Bassano del Grappa flanked by imposing mountains that create a strong diurnal shift in temperatures. The vines are densely planted on the native volcanic soil to ensure naturally low yields.
