This red gem is made from the rare Vernaccia Nera grape, made by only a handful of producers in Italy. 100% worthy of a detour. 

+ GRAPE: Organic. 100% Vernacchia Nera, grown on rolling hills facing the Adriatic Sea in Le Marche, Italy. 

+ PROFILE: Dry, medium body, fresh. A complex compendium of violets, black pepper, black cherry, blackberry tisane, and craggy minerals. Fine-grained tannins round things out. Wildly delicious! Let breathe 15-30 minutes, and serve with a slight chill. 

+ FUNDAMENTALS: Stainless tank fermentation, followed by 12 months in oak barrels. Sees some lees age, which lends a lovely texture.

+ PAIRINGS: Grilled meats, fennel salami, aged Pecorino or other hard cheeses, mushroom anything.
