Immich-Batterieberg, Mosel Dry Riesling C.A.I. 2021

Availability: In stock

BONE DRY + TOTALLY DELICIOUS

From rockstar winemaker, Gernot Kollmann, comes this keenly balanced [and yes, did we mention TOTALLY DRY?] Riesling. A unique style with a softer upfront mouthfeel, followed by all the slate-citrus-salt-acidity characteristics you could hope for in a Riesling. An exceptional value!

+ GRAPE: 100% Riesling. Grown in multiple sources along the Mosel, including the Saar, Mitelmosel and Gernot’s own vineyards in Enkirch.

+ FUNDAMENTALS: Natural approach. Hand-harvested grapes, wild yeast, vinified entirely in stainless steel. Minimal use of sulfur.

+ FUN FACT: Okay, so this explains that wild cherub-with-a-cannon label....Batterieberg is a small monopole within the Zeppwingert, and also the place that gives the estate its namesake. The C.A.I is a tribute to 'the guy with the dynamite', Carl August Immich, whose decision it was to dynamite the Batterieberg mountain between 1841 and 1845 to create terraces and plant vines. Batterieberg translates to 'battered mountain'.
