From this fresh, fabulous Fleurie Beaujolais crafted by this classic house.
+ GRAPES & GROWING: 100% Gamay. Cuvée Christie comes from two parcels of 30-40 year old vines near the village of Fleurie. The granite soils are more typical of the Fleurie cru. All farming is sustainable and the vineyard work is by hand.
+ FUNDAMENTALS: Vinification is traditional, semi-carbonic Beaujolais style. The whole clusters are harvested and fermented spontaneously with wild yeasts in open-top concrete tanks, with a short maceration. The wine is aged in large, super-old oak foudres for nine months prior to bottling. Minimal use of sulphites.
+ FUN FACT: The Cuvee Christie label differs from other Clos de la Roilette wines, featuring the Coudert family name instead. The wine is named for after the daughter of winemaker, Alain Coudet. It was originally called 'Christal' to honor both of his children, but let's just say a well-known Champagne house issued a cease-and-desist.
